Well I the blog is officially up and running on Wordpress after a couple of days of banging my head against at wall trying to get Moveabletype to install. Well not so much as install but working right and after three days and four reuploads I gave it up and starting looking of something else and I found Wordpress. The install for it was quick and relatively painless and it is GPL so that is a plus.

Now I just have to learn how to customize it to my needs. I have already switched themes and got my first couple of plugins. The Now Reading in the sideboard over there—> it’s
the first plugin that didn’t come with Wordpress itself, and the install of it was as easy also. Just got to figure out how to make it behave how I want it to. Hence the reason I am rereading my PHP book.

Wordpress uses a combo of CSS and PHP to control how the pages look and act. So its once more in the programing side of computers for me. PHP does not look to hard, it will just be figuring out how everything fits together that will take some time. The first thing on the fix it list is that when you click on a book in the Now Reading section the details page gets covered up by the left sideboard and thats just not good. I just got to figure out if its the Now Reading plugin that I have to mess with or the General layout of the blog itself.

The other thing I need to figure out is how exactly to use trackback the heart and soul of blogs (yes when it comes to blogs I am a bit of a newb). So I will call that good for my first post. In the future there will be posts on books, movies, computers, and what every else grabs my attention. As well as more posts on the trails and tribulations of setting up and running a blog.
