5 April, 2007 (22:28) | Gundam, Model Making, Project Gundam RX-78 GP02A

Well I have been working on the Gundam for about an hour or so a day, when I have been feeling well (it not that I am all that sick just dont have a lot of engerary. I have made quite a bit of progress. I have the shield mostly done, need to figure out painting stragity before I can complete it.

The binders are complete. They have some nice action to the them and can provide a nice range of poses. Of course that will make a bit of a chalange when it come to paint but we will see how it goes.

The legs are complete, that’s is one nice thing about gundam kits because everything is basicly seperate from the rest of the body you dont have to go straingt trought the manual you can start anywhere. I started with the shield which is one of the last things you would put together if you followed the manual. I did have one problem with the legs as some of the lower aourmor was not fitting together right. Turns out I had switched a part fromt the left leg to the right by mistake.

I did the shield and the detachable part of the bazooka first the is a nasty seam line along the top of the bazooka that will nedd fixing, but overall it looks ok. I have read that the Gundam has some problems holding the shield up when complete because of weight issues so I have been thinking about permently fixing him in a pose on some kind of flight stand. The arm may need some kind of reinforcement.

I got the main body paints ordered from HLJ now just need to find a source for the highlight colors. That one problem I have found shopping around on the internet for Gundam model stuff. No one site is well stocked HLJ has the paint set for most models but doesnt carry seperate paints a site I found has a lot of seperate paints but no sets and a lot of their stuff is out of stock. I need to find a good hobby store near me but I may end up haveing to go to the big city to do some supply shopping.
