Claymore Episode 2

25 April, 2007 (18:17) | Anime, Reviews

Episode 2 is titled Black Card, we see what happens to a Claymore when they reach the end of their rope. Clare and Raki have traveled on to Clare’s next assignment, which she handles quite well. She only had to go yellow eye to take out one yoma that was trying to fly away. As they leave town Raki asks why they couldn’t take some of the money with them commenting on Clare’s still ripped clothing. Clare’s responses with her common icy tone that all will be take care of by the organization. Then when Raki’s stomach grows Clare takes out a large lizard with her sword for Raki to cook up for supper (yummy fried lizard it’s finger licking good.) We also find out that Claymores need very little food to get along, which begs the question if being half yoma means you don’t have to eat as much why do the yoma run around eating people guts?

After their little chat Clare wonders off into the night and meets up with a mysterious man in black, that likes to wear sunglasses at night, who is her contact to the organization. He give her a new set of clothing and comment on her attachment to Raki, and wonders what Raki’s reaction would be if he saw Clares naked body. As the man in black leaves telling Clare to control herself when it comes to Raki, he gives her a Black Card. The next day Clare and Raki arrive in a small town and Clare tells Raki to stay at the inn as she has a job to do. After she leaves the man in black come from down stairs and fill Raki in on what happens to a Claymore when they are no longer able to repress their yoma side. Raki runs off think that Clare maybe turning in to a yoma. When he catches up with her she explains that no one is turned in to a yoma but when a Claymore feels that they can no long control their yoma side they send out a black card to the Claymore they would like to kill them while they still have the hart of a human.

I thought that it would take them at least a few episodes before we found out the dark-side of being a Claymore but here it is in only episode two. Hopefully this bode well for the rest of the series, not getting bogged down with the monster of the week stick like some show do. But, we are still left with some mysteries like what exactly is this organization that Clare work for, why are the young girls that become Claymores kept in what look like little more than cages, and what exactly does Clare look like naked.
