Claymore Episode 16

28 August, 2007 (21:34) | Anime, Reviews

Our girl Clare enters the cave and is confronted by a few low level Yoma which she quickly dispatches but things go down hill pretty quickly after that. The big guy Duff shows up and starts trying to put the hurt on our girl Clare. He is not having too much luck at first as the small space doesn’t give much room to move. Clare is not have in much luck either as Duff’s extra tough skin makes even her Flash Sword ineffective.

Thing don’t look so good for Clare as Duff prove he is not a complete idiot and crushes Clare’s leg, as that will take longer for a Claymore to heal then simply reattaching a severed limb. So Clare now is in bad shape, Duff in deciding how best to play with his new toy before he breaks it into pieces. But who should arrive in the nick of time and save Clare’s butt. It’s number 3 Galatea who somehow makes Duff release Clare and the calmly walks away with her. This don’t make Duff too happy and and his starts shooting his rod at her but somehow every shot misses. Needless to say this pisses Duff off even more to see his new toys trying to leave so his next shot takes out the roof of the cavern trapping the girls in with him. Galatea takes on Duff and gets some hits in on some of his soft spots but all his attacks miss her no matter what he tries.

Duff is now crying in pain and is upset that the world is just not fair, then the little pretty girl Awakened Being shows up and threats to break up with Duff if he cant land a punch. Well that just piss Duff off and suddenly his attacks don’t go astray. It seems that Galatea can control others Yoki but can only tweak it just a bit and Duff’s anger filled attacks are beyond her control. When Duff gets a good hit on Galatea and before he land the final blow Clare releases all her Yoma power heals her legs and grabs Galatea. But things don’t go so well this time and her new arm doesn’t want to turn back. Just when things seem lost Galatea is able to help Clare pull back. The little girl Awakened is loving it, a high numbered one that can control yoki and a girl who can pull back even after going over her limits, now more then before she wants them to awaken and become her friends. This get Clare thinking, for once, just who the heck is this little girl. Well it turns out she one of three former number 1’s to have Awakened. She is one of the Dweller of the Deep, Riful of the West. Galatea ask why she and the one to the South are suddenly trying to gather more Awakened ones after all this time. Well is seem that the Male former number one to the North has started making trouble after getting himself a new girlfriend a very powerful Awakened Being with one horn, Priscella. Clare demands to know where the one to the North is. Riful makes her a deal if Clare can hit her once she will tell her.

Clare attacks of course and Duff block he first few attacks while Riful just sit there, and just when it look like Clare is going to land a blow Galatea stop her. Riful was just egging Clare on trying to get her to Awaken. Galatea tells Clare that as long a Riful is siting this one out that their only hope of getting out alive rests with the girl below number 9 Jeane. Clare is to go get her while Galatea holds Duff back but she warns Clare, Jeane is unstable and may Awaken at anytime if that is the case Clare is to kill her first.

The story just gets better and better, and the fight scenes are not over plagued with the stand around and talk for half the episode that some show have. The preview for next week show that Jeane may have in fact Awakened so what will are girl Clare do. Clare is going to have a problem even if she get away from Riful alive. Does she contuine her quest to find Raki or does she head North to find and kill Priscella.
