Well made it through the first day of travel. Left from home this morning about 6:30 and made it to our first stop in Elko Nevada about 530 miles. One thing about Nevada after you leave Sparks there is a hole lot of nothing along I-80. Me and Dad split the drive about even with me taking the first and third shifts. We didn’t stop much, just rest stops and for McBreakfast and McLuch. Got to Elko about 4:00 and got a room and fueled up the car so we wouldn’t have to do in in the morning. We didn’t feel like going out for dinner so we went over to Raley’s and picked up something from the deli.

Here is some pics of the lovely terrain along the way.

Saw some damm long trains along the way longer then anything I have ever seen in California but with only flat land to got though then can string them out much longer. They also were mainly one one type of load, all hopper cars or all containers cars.

The other thing got to get use to is the trucks pulling three trailer something you couldn’t get away with on the twisty turning road in California.

Here our hotel room with the lovely view of the a/c units over the indoor pool.

Tomorrow we got more of the same flat high plains dessert to go. In fact the map shows that right after I-80 crosses the Utah boarder it goes dead straight for about 50 miles or so. If I have wi-fi will update again tomorrow.
