Make: Magazine
Well I hit the bookstore the other day and pick up an issue of Make: magaizine. (yes the colon is part of the title) Make: comes pretty close to the untimate Geek magazine. Each quarterly 200page issue has several articles on new tech as well as how it works type articles, and surprisingly few ads. The man focus however is on do it yourself type projects, but not you average DYI handyman stuff. For example there were 31 howto in the issue I got including such item as a compressed air Tritone horn, a solar powered xylophone, which is kind of like a wind-chime but sun activated not air, a hydraulic powered espresso tamper, and a atlatl. There was also a nice little DYI on Digital SLR Astrophotography that I might try out next week. Make also has a very nice website and blog that has even more things to do and see what other have done. For me the thing is that even if I will never do a quarter of the things that they show, is seen what other very creative people can come up with.
