Sound Box Hack Possibilities
I work a major office supply retailer and during the back to school season we got a display shipper for 5-Star Sound Binders. The display had a bull’s eye type target that said “Tap Here” and when you did a short, 30-60 sec, audio clip played talking about the Sound Binders. When the Back to Season ended we busted up the cardboard display and recycled it, but snagged the box that played that audio clip.It is actually kind of neat. There is no real speaker but some kind of inducer that cause the entire cardboard panel to vibrate, basicly causing the entire top of the display to become a speaker. The inducer unit is also the switch that turned on the sound. The unit is ran by four C cell batteries and there is a jack to plug in a a/c wall-wart transformer power. The board is made by NXT Sound which it turns out supplied the tech that was also in the binders. The board is labled HOP 1.1 (c) 2006 NXT, but I have been unable to find any info about it at NXT’s site. Buy the looks of things the board could have supported two different audio clips but the audio jack and some caps are missing. If anybody got more info on the board or better yet knows how to interface with it and maybe reprogram the sound let me know.
