Well that was a fun week at work, not!!! So the week before Christmas is the busiest time of year for those of us that work retail. Doubly so if you happen to run the department that also handle the UPS shipping. I run a copy and shipping center at office supply retailer and the Christmas shopping season is my busiest time of year. Not only do I get all the people that are shipping gifts to far off love ones. It is also the time of year where we push custom photo calenders. So add those two things together and I end up doing two week worth of business in only one.

Now I understand wanting to ship off gifts to friends and family but why does everyone wait till the week before Christmas?? For example standard Monday shipping volume in 10-20 packages, this Monday I had almost 100 packages come in.  Here is the kicker, UPS stops guaranteeing Ground delivery times two weeks before Christmas, for obvious reasons, but almost everyone complains about it. ‘Well why won’t it get there in time, I’ve shipped stuff before and it always gets there in less then a week.’ I swear if I heard that one more time this week I would have snapped. You just want to smack them upside the head. So here’s my advice if you are going to ship something to your cousin who lives on the other side of the US from you, either ship it the first week of December or be ready to pay more to get it there in time for the holiday.

Now on top of all that shipping this week I get all the people who want to get calenders and holiday cards made for their family. Now I don’t mind making 3 or 4 calenders for someone it not that hard just a little time consuming. It takes a little time to set it the first one up then the printer does the rest, but what makes it real FUN is not when they want four calenders but when the want 4 different calenders I have suppress my urge to scream. Added to all that fun is the large order for a customer who kept changing little details of the job and needed it all done ASAP.

And that’s how my week went, I was a little behind on things Monday and didn’t get caught up till about and hour befor quitting time on Friday. So I am going to go to bed and sleeping in till Noon. Hope you all have a Happy Holidays.
