Night Shots
Was suffering from a bit of insomnia yesterday and because it was such a clear and beautiful night I went out back with my tripod and camera and messed around with a little nighttime photography. At first tried some sky shots and they turned out ok, not great but ok. The moon was nearly half full last night so I’m thinking of trying again when the moon is down or on a night of a new moon. Speaking of the Moon there is a Full Lunar Eclipse coming up on the 20th of this month. The eclipse will be visible for most everyone living in the western hemisphere. Where I live the eclipse will start about 17:45 and last until just after 21:00 but with sunset not happening until almost 18:00 I will be missing the early parts of the eclipse and hopefully the weather will cooperate. After taking a few sky shots my eyes had gotten use to the moon light and tried to capture some of the feeling of being out at night. I have few other ideas for night shots and some of the stuff you can do with long exposures and moving lights.

This one didn’t turn out too bad. The red light is most likely cause by a car going buy on the highway.

Had to crank the levels up on this one a lot to see any of the details.

The only pure sky shot that turned out decent. I need to get out where it is darker for these.

I really like how this one came out. Didn’t have to mess with the levels much at all.
