Windows on a Mac
Well tonight’s project was to install Parallels on the Mac then install Windows XP. Yea it’s a little bit sacrilegious to have Windows on a Mac Box but sometimes sacrifices must be made in the name of getting S*** done. All in all the processes went quick and smooth. took about 5-10 minutes to get Parallels installed and the normal 45mins or so to create the XP virtual machine (VM). Haven’t messed with the Windoze install much but everything seem to be working OK so far. It did crash once when I tried to change some of the advanced setting of the video. I think that install the video drives for Windows will fix that. The VM boots quicker then any machine I’ve ever had Windows on, but then again the Mac as the best specs of any machine I’ve ever had
. I will need to do a RAM upgrade as I would like to run the VM with two gigs instead of the current one. The main reason I installed it is that I have a couple of programs I need that only have Windows versions and I have a Netgear NAS box that uses a proprietary interface that only works on Windows. The plan for that thou is once I have the data off the drives it to get rid of it on eBay and use the money for another hard-drive for the Mac.
