The West Wing
Ok so I’m cruising Costco this weekend shopping with mom and going through the DVD I come across season box sets cheap. By cheap I’m talking 20 bucks a season. Most of them where of shows I never watched but I did pick up The West Wing Complete First Season. The West Wing is one of the few true Dramas that I have watched with any kind of regularity. What got to to start watching West Wing in the first place is that it was created and written by Aaron Sorkin. Who is the creator of one of my other all time favorite shows Sports Night. He also wrote the screenplay for The American President and A Few Good Men. His last TV show Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip got canceled after only one season which is too bad, I thought it had the potential to be as good as The West Wing.
Arron has a way with dialog that is like no other writer on TV today. That is the nice thing about watching the shows on DVD you can back track and watch a scene again and catch the thing you might have missed the first time through. The other fun thing to do with Arron Sorkin show is to see how many actors from other show he has done you can spot. I think that almost every minor charter from Sports Night has shone up at one time or another on The West Wing. (I’m sure some complete Arron Sorkin fanboy will correct me.) In fact one actor Joshua Malina was in A Few Good Men, The American President, Sports Night, and The West Wing. I’m sure that if Studio 60 had ran longer that he would have shown up there too.
