Just started watching this new series called Soul Eater. The visual style is fairly dynamic with lots of extreme camera angles, fish-eye lens, and foreshortening. The series takes place at the Shinigami technical school for weapon technicians, and revolves around 3 group different teams of weapon meister and weapon that can take human form. Each team is trying turn the weapon into a “Death Scythe” and thus fit for use by the Shinigami. In order to do so they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch.
The first episode introduces Maka and Soul Eater who take the form of a Scythe. Which Maka welds with much skill. Maka is the daughter of the current Death Scythe and his partner, unfortunately Maka’s parents are having some problems with their marriage. Manly do to the fact that Maka’s Dad is a bit of a cad.
Maka and Soul have captured the 99 soul of evil humans and all that is left is that of a Witch. The capture of the Witch soul however does not quite go as planed. Episodes two and three will introduce the other two teams. Black Star and Tsubaki, who can change in to a variety of ninja weapons. The third team is Kid Death (son of the current Shinigami and his partners Patty and Liz who transfor in to the Double Team Demon Guns.
This series is definitely high on my watch list is it on yours?
Already keeping a weekly watch, Soul Eater is one of the better (and awesome) anime series of spring and will run for 51 episodes. So yeah.
