Well all the Apple rumors were true. Steve Jobs announced the new iPhone today. The new iPhone is 3G and included a real GPS unit and with the new 2.0 software suite 3rd party apps will now be available without having to hack the phone. With the new phone also comes new pricing a 8gig iPhone 3G can be had for $199US with a 2 year AT&T contract. Which is pretty much in line with other smart phones. The minimum contract for an iPhone ends up running around $60 a month. While I would really really like an iPhone the budget just won’t handle it right now. The monthly charges are about $20 more a month then I am paying now. I don’t use my phone much anyway I mainly have it for emergencies. Thou with iPhone plan you do get unlimited data so I would have the internet in my pocket, but there is no 3G coverage in my area so that kill the advantage to the newer iPhone. Maybe around the end of the year the budget will look better and I’ll get one for myself for Christmas. Either that or next years tax return.
