Review: Goodsmile’s Chu Chu Astram

Well here she is in all of her near naked glory. Chu Chu Asrtram is from the Eroge Chu Chu Idol: The Idol is a Vampire. She is the first figure I’ve gotten in a while and also the first photo shoot with the new set up. While I like the new set up it still isn’t quite right and not really sure why. I think that I may need and lower wattage for the overhead light. Also while there are a lot of photo’s after the cut they are not all that were takeing during the shoot. To see them all go to the flikr gallery. The reason for this is two fold. One the Flikr uploader that I am using keeps erroring out. I don’t think this is a problem with the uploader but more of a problem with my semi sucky internet connection. The second is that the new Wordpress media manger and flickr plug-in that I am using don’t work quite like they used to and it makes it hard to insert large number of photos in a single post, have to figure out a better workflow. Well enough bitching and on to the review and pics.

Chu Chu is a busty girl who doesn’t mind showing off her charms for all to see. With her near tranparent top and giant bat for a skirt she might as well go around naked.

Sculpt
Hajime Kaiya does a bang up job with Chu Chu, chaptureing her likeness in great detail with very little deviation from the charterer illustrations. The pose is simple yet dramatic and has several display options do to various levels of cast off.

Production
Goodsmile has not let us down with this one. There are no mold lines to speak of and the only major seam being the one in the hair. There is another seam around the neck but that is necessary for the castoff which entail decapitating the poor girl in order to remove her top. The paint job is also top notch with the trip being sharp and clean. The hair, bat and body are shaded to bring out shape and detail. The cast off is clean and neat with the bat bending out of the way and her top being remove via taking her head off. The bat is made of a semi flexible plastic and is some times hard to get to stay put in position.

It does appear that while she is sold out at most places HLJ and Kid Nemo still have some in stock.

Took a look just for your setup photos. The several first were like, too dim, but the rest were all fine lighting. Missed a lamp at first?

I was fiddling with shutter speed. TTL metering was coming out too bright in test shots. So I did a meter off a gray card did the first few shot and noticed they were coming out a bit dark so split the difference for the rest.
