Ok I just saw a commercial for Starship Troopers 3, hell I don’t remember there being a Starship Troopers 2. One of the big blurbs was the ‘return of Rico’ so it seems like Casper Van Dien is hard up for cash.
Now the first movie wasn’t all that bad and had it’s cheesey moments but from what I’ve seen from the trailer they aren’t even trying to play this one serious and going for pure cheese. Heinlein must be rolling in his grave over this. A lot of people will say that the book is always better then the movie, but in the case of Starship Troopers the book and the movie are nothing alike. The only thing the share is the title and some character names. The movies are action adventure stories while the book, like a lot of Heinlein’s stories, is more of a character and society study. I would recommend to anyone who has seen the movie to go out and get the book to see Heinlein’s true vision.
I might end up renting ST:3 but I don’t think I’ll pay 17 bucks for it.
