I Just found out that Neil Gaiman’s book Coraline (which is still sitting in the massive pile that I call “too be read books.”) Is being made in to a stop motion movie Directed by Henry Selick, who worked with producer Tim Burton on animated movies The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach.
Coraline is the story of a little girl with very preoccupied parents that one day discovers that the bricked up door in the upstairs room has become a portal to another world that is both better then the one she left but also just a bit too creepy.
Coraline is not just a book and movie it has already been turned into a Graphic Novel, drawn by P. Craig Russell. Stephin Merritt is making it into a musical and a videogame based on the story is also on the way. So it definitely looks like I need to move it to the top of the stack.
