Yes I know it has been out for a while but I went last night and saw Jim Carrey’s new film Yes Man.
For those who don’t know what it is about here’s a quick synopsis. Carl Allen (Jim Carrey) got divorced three years ago and has been in a funk ever since. He rarely answers his cell phone or goes out with his friends. He only leaves the house to go to work and hit the video store for his weekend movie watching. All this changes when a old acquittance talks Carl in to attending a seminar and the speaker convinces him to say Yes to and all opportunities that come his way. The first night saying Yes to a homeless man who needs a ride leads him to meeting free spirit Allison (Zooey Deschanel). Carl gets so into to saying Yes so much it gets to the point that he thinks bad things will happen to him if he says No.
At its heart Yes Man is romantic comedy but with out the typical romantic comedy friction/hate between the leads that turns in to love at the end.
Jim Carrey’s performance was outstanding he was very funny with out being over the top, more Bruce Almighty then Ace Ventura. Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel have some real chemistry on screen and you really believe that these two are falling in love. Their path is not completely smooth thou when Allison finds out about the Yes pledge. But like any good romantic comedy then end up back together in the end. So go watch it you’ll be glad you did, and when you do make sure to stay through the credits to see the very cool roller-skate suits.
