Back in the day me and my brother got a R/C car call the Grasshopper made by model giant Tamiya. It was a nice entry level R/C car and was real easy to put together. My bother was a lot better at driving the darn thing then I was. I could drive the car fine as long as it was moving away from be but had real trouble when it was coming towards me. My brain didn’t seem to adapt to the fact that when the car is coming towards you, you have to turn left to make the car go right and right to go left. My brother got really into it for a couple of years and raced them at a local track and won a few trophies.
Today I just found out that Tamiya has done a reissue of the old Grasshopper. They have used a newer motor and r/c unit but the body, suspension and stickers are all the same as the old one. The Grasshopper was built like a brick we flipped off a bridge and only scratched up the body. It had a independent swing axle front and rigid axle rear suspension with a good amount of travel and could jump like nobodies business. The other nice thing about it was while it is an entry level kit there are lots of ways to upgrade it and make it better. You can upgrade the battery and motor, switch to ball bearing bushings instead of nylon. I think we even ended up replacing the the front bumper with a metal one. It’s a neat little car even has a little plastic guy driver.
