Well spring has definitely sprung around here and stealing an idea from Dancing Queen and went out and took some picture of the flowers that are in bloom. There are a lot more pics after the cut.
I do have a Cherry tree so got some pics of the blossoms. Now this is not the flowering kind that you see all over Japan and Washington D.C. but a Cherry fruit tree.
Unfortunately the tree did it’s major bloom last week right before the big wind and rain storm came in and blew most of the blossoms off, so I don’t think that we’ll get much of a crop this year.
Now this tree is really putting on a show. It’s a flowering Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis), who every said that neon pink wasn’t a natural color.
The bees really were taking a liking to it. That’s the nice thing about the new lens for the camera. I could stand about 10 feet away from the tree and still get these nice close up shot of the flowers and the bees.
I can’t remember what these are call but Mom has got them planted all over the front yard.
With the warming weather the fish in the pond are getting more active, it will be a few more weeks before we have to start feeding them again. During the winter months the fish become very lethargic and just sit around the bottom of the pond not doing much, and can live off what’s growing in the water. Once the weather warms up thou we have to start feeding them as they are more active and need extra food. The big guy above is a Kohaku Koi and the smaller ones are goldfish. Interesting factoid both Koi and goldfish are just kinds of carp.
Now this big guy is one of two albino catfish that we have in the pond. While they come up to surface when we feed them they spend most of their time hanging around the bottom of the pond digging around the gravel.
