Synth Saturday: Moog Little Phatty

littlefatty.jpg

This week on Synth Saturday we are looking at the Moog Little Phatty. The Little Fatty is the last Moog product that Bob Moog had a hand in the design of. Now the Little Phatty is different from the other analog syths we’ve show on Syth Saturday in that while it has a Analog sound path all the controls are digital. The advantage with the blending of digital and analog is that you get the analog sound but once you find sound you like you can then store the settings and quickly switch to them later.

Tech wise the Little Phatty is a 37 note Monophonic synth. With two Oscillators, an LFO, one Low Pass Filter (Classic Moog Ladder) with ADSR Envelope Generator, and a VCA plus MIDI in and out.

Because, it is a newer synth you get that Moog sound without paying out the big buck for something like a vintage MiniMoog. Now Moog has stop producing the original Little Phatty but there is the the Moog Little Phatty II . The Little Phatty II adds MIDI over USB, MIDI Clock Sync, an Arpeggiator, and Tap Tempo all for about $1,300.
