So today was the start of the Apple WWDC where durning the Keynote Apple unveiled changes to the product line that are going to happen over the next few months. There was all the talk about the newer/faster iPhone, cheaper iPhone, and updated laptops, thou still no Mac Netbook (damn you Jobs). Apple went over the new feature for the upcoming OS X upgrade, named Snow Leopard.
The big news was the Snow Leopard is the first version OS X that will not support the PowerPC chip. The dropping of support of the older CPU allows some performance gains and makes the overall OS leaner. Faster because of more of the apps and features are rewritten for true 64bit CPU support and slimmer to the tune of 6GB of freed hard drive space after the upgrade. The part I really like about the new Snow Leopard is the price. A upgrade from Leopard is going to set me back a whole $29US. I think the cheapest I ever paid for a OS upgrade under Windows was $89.
