After quite some time of inactivity I have made progress on the Weird Sound Generator (WSG). From the last update you can see that plans have changed. The original plan was to do a custom front panel of etched brass. Well the etching was a complete failure. I might try again with something else but for the sake of progress I went ahead and bought the front panel from Ray Wilson. It’s a nice aluminum plate with a silk screened graphics.

I spent about a hour or so today doing some of the wiring. The wiring is not that complex just a bit time consuming as I really don’t have the best set up for doing it. I think I need to spend a bit more money and buy a better soldering iron the $10 rat shack special handle get a bit hot and trying to hold the wire the iron, and the panel all at the same time can take a while to everything into position by which time me fingers are starting to get hot. I figure that working on it about an hour a night I should have it done in a week or so. I still need to get/make a box for it, I’m thinking maybe a nice wooden one. I would love to maybe use walnut or oak but that might be out of my budget for now. So most likely it going to be out of pine.
