Well this Saturday we have the return of an old feature here at The Geek Review, Synth Saturday.
One of the way too many things that I am interested in is the old style analog synths. One sub set of synths is the drum machine, which is really not made know a days as it is easier to just build it into a modern digital synth or program a computer plugin. But before the digital music revolution they where ever where. One of the most well known, at least to me was the 808 by Roland. It is so well like there is even a group of people recreating it in kit form, called the x0xb0x, for the analog music junkies.
While reading up on the kit in there forums I came across this nice video from motherboard.tv. Electronic music artist Moby gives a tour of his studio and shows off his vintage drum machine collection. One part that I found funny is where he talking about how the studio is sound proofed, not only are there double walls but there is over 3 tons of sand in the floor so the down stairs neighbors.
