Symmetrical Docking Friday (Week 77)

sdf77.jpg

Well kiddies its time once again for the only thing that seem to be happening on a regular basis around here… Symmetrical Docking Friday!! (insert crowd noise here).

For this week we have Bluma and Chi-chi from Dragon Ball Z and for some reason they seem to be quite upset with each other. DBZ is another of those classic series that I really haven’t watched that much of. Mainly because of the hack job that it got when it was brought to the US airwaves.

LP Loot: Queen – Jazz

queen_jazz_1.jpg

Ok so about a month ago I was talking about my favorite AMV from Golden Boy. The music is a dace remix of a Queen song off their album Jazz.

So while trolling around the interweb looking for info on the song I kept coming across a certain image (NSFW). Being the weird guy that I am, I decided that I wanted a good high res copy of said image. But my every thing I found on the net was too low res, biggest one I found was only 700px tall. But in one of my google searches what came up but an ebay link for the album.

Now as part of my research I found out that the image was a poster that came with the album, but when they released the LP here in the U.S. it was only available through mail order so as not to upset retailers. So I wasn’t holding out much hope for the poster to be included but thought it would be nice to have the album for my LP collection any way. I lucked out thou the auction was from a Canadian collection, which did include the poster. So I quickly hit the buy it now button and so several week and $20 later I am now the proud owner of Queen’s Jazz LP along with an original nude girls bicycle race poster.

Symmetrical Docking Friday (Week 76)

Strike up the band and get them Tater Tots® in the oven cause it’s Symmetrical Docking Friday time.

This weeks Symmetrical Docking Friday is an example of one of the common themes of SD images. Bust expansion. For example the girl on the left, most of the other (noneechi) images I’ve found of her show her with a modest bust. But as soon as she is in a Symmetrical Docking situation and bam she’s sporting something in the DD+ size range. Of course this is not limited to SD images most 2D girls get a bust upgrade when then get into any type of eechi situation. The only ones who seem to be immune are those known for their flat chests. But, this immunity only seems to be partial as I’ve seen Louise with something approaching a B cup.

Max Factory’s figma Tsumugi Kotobuki: Uniform ver.

Tsumugi Kotobuki.jpg

Well with Max Factory giving the K-on! girls the figma treatment I knew it was just a matter of time before my favorite girl would be out. So knowing how much I am in to things synth so of course my favorite girl is going to be Tsumugi Kotobuki. She come with her Korg Triton Extreme that looks very detailed. She goes on sale this April and the nice thing is that she priced at only 2,800 yen. I could afford that even with the budget constraints. The downside is that while she was only announced up for preorder only a couple of days ago, she is already sold-out. AmiAmi, HLJ, and Hobby Search have all stopped taking pre-orders. The few places that I’ve seen that still have preorders open have what I feel to be highly inflated prices. For example, HLJ’s preorder price is 2,667 yen or about $30 USD, one place had her $45 USD and you still had to pay shipping from Japan. So it looks like no figma for me, hopefully they will do a reissue.

Symmetrical Docking Friday (Week 75)

Another Friday brings another Symmetrical Docking. This week we have a rarity for Symmetrical Docking images and that is one in black & white. I think that b&w Symmetrical Docking images are rarity mainly because they tend to be one shot image, so they are therefore something that the artist is going to spend more time one then say one page of a 30 page manga.

One thing also with the weeks SDF that I am seeing more of in SD images is the the two hand coming together to make a heart. Which kind of adds another level of docking to the whole thing.

Apple’s Mystery Product

applequestionmark.jpg

So tomorrow is the day that Apple and Steve Jobs will announce something new. What will that new thing be? Well a lot of speculation has gone on and most of the crystal ball gazers agree that Jobs will unveil the long rumored Apple tablet. And while that may be true the real mystery is going to be is how will Apple reinvent the tablet. Cause the tablet has been around for a long time but no one has really succeeded with making a tablet type computer mainstream.

It’s just like when Apple came out with the iPhone. The smartphone had been around for several years, but when Apple released the first smartphone suddenly the smartphone became mainstream. So how will Apple change the tablet market will know tomorrow.

Boyonetta: Early Impressions

bayonetta.jpg

I’ve had the PS3 for a few day but with work and I only been really able to play yesterday and today. While I get some other games for it in the future for right now I only have the one game: Boyonetta. So far I’m only have a couple of hours of game play with the game so as the title says this is only early impressions.

Overall the character design is pretty unique. Boyonetta runs around in a outfit made mostly out of her own hair and her high heels have guns mounted on the heels, who came up with that? She is definitely designed for sex appeal, long legged, large bused and the cut scenes love to do tight zooms on her perfectly proportioned posterior. Thou Sygnin the artist of one of last years SDFs did have something to say about Boyonetta’s character design that I have to agree with. That being her head is way to small and some of the poses just make it look even smaller.

The intro to the game I feel was a bit on the long side with several cut scenes both pre-rendered and in-engine. Speaking of pre-rendered cut scenes, they us a film effect durning several of them reducing them to several still with voiceovers. One problem I have with the game so far is more of personal preference thing than a real problem. And, that is the game is originally a Japanese game but they striped the Japanese voice track out completely, why? I mean they went through the trouble to do english subtitles for the whole thing why rip out the Japanese voice track. I mean it’s not like they don’t have to room on a blu-ray disc.

Edit: Well scratch what I said above. This will teach me to research before writing these things seems that there is no Japanese voice track. Even the Japanese version has english voice actors with Japanese subtitles.

So far game play has be a bit on the not very much side. Like I said there were some long intros. And so far what play there has been is a bit on the button mashing side. I expect that to change thou as the story develops. There have been a couple of easy puzzles to get you use to the controls but nothing major. I am liking the game so far and hopefully they will mix things up enough with story and game play to keep me going. With any luck Boyonetta will join the short list of games that I have finished.
