Operation Snow Leopard

Mac_OS_X_Snow_Leopard_Box.jpeg

So OS X 10.6 came out quite a few months ago and while I spent the $29 bucks to buy the upgrade disk it’s been sitting on the shelf. It had been sitting around mainly because I wanted to do a clean install and not just an upgrade and that take a bit more work. What with backing up files and software. And, because I’m a very bad procrastinator I never got around to doing the work.

Then last week when moving files around trying get things more organized I noticed I was beginning to run out of space on the dives currently in the machine. So I ended up ordering a new 1TB drive off. The plan is to remove the current ‘Macintosh HD’ drive and replace it with the new 1TB drive. Install Snow Leopard on it and then put the old drive in as drive 4 and transfer my stuff off that the wipe the drive.

I’m trying to do some research to see if this is possible as I have never done a OSX install before but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Os if anybody could point me to resources that might help me in my endeavor it would be greatly appreciated.

Symmetrical Docking Friday (Week 99)

sdf99_small.jpg

Well to continue our trend from last week of ‘it’s too darn hot outside so lets look at pretty girls in bikinis.’ This weeks Symmetrical Docking Friday features a couple of the girls from the Anime version of Koihime Musou. Which is kind of a yuri version of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. This weeks SDF is also another example that proves that Symmetrical Docking is not just for fanart as it is one of the DVD covers from the anime release.

And believe me when I tell you it’s way to damn hot outside. As I write this it is just a bit after midnight and the temp outside is 85°F (30°C), the high today was 108°F (42°C). It’s is going to be like that for the three or four days then we’ll get a break with the highs only getting into the 90s. All in all a pretty mild summer for around here, yep I said mild. It’s mild because we have not had any days yet this summer that have gotten over 110°F (43°C), but then again August is still to come which it typically then hottest month around here. On average we have over 100 days a year where the temps get over 90°F (32°C).

Symmetrical Docking Friday (Week 98)

Since it is now well into summer time and the weather around here is hitting into the triple digits on daily basis. So for this weeks Symmetrical Docking Friday we have girls in swimsuits. The girls in question are from the RPG Ar Tonelico.

Symmetrical Docking Friday (Week 97)

sdf97_small.jpg

What’s that? It’s Friday? Well then we all know what that means, it’s time for Symmetrical Docking Friday!!

This weeks SDF proves once again that Symmetrical Docking is not just for anime characters, and to top it off it’s a crossover as well. On the left we have from the DC universe we have Power Girl. On the right from the Marvel universe we have Ms. Marvel. As you can see both girls do have the most common superpower. (I must warn you that this is a Tv Tropes link and you should click with caution. As Tv Tropes is one of the biggest time sinks on the interweb.) Other then that they also seem to pretty similar in both costume and appearance. And, if I remember right Power Girl is an alien and Ms. Marvel got her power from an alien. So was this a case of Marvel ripping of DC or DC ripping off Marvel?

Symmetrical Docking Friday (Week 96)

Well it’s another late Symmetrical Docking Friday was dealing with my host suspending my account again last night. I have yet to figured out how my little blog that gets at most 500 or so page-views a day can being hitting the server so hard even in a shared environment.

Anyway this weeks SDF was picked for the cute outfits, and features the Vocaloids Meiko and Luka Megurine.

Goodsmile’s Dead Master

deadmaster.jpg

So we all know the Black Rock Shooter anime is comming up but the question has been what/who is a girl with a very big weapon link Rock Cannon going to be fighting. Well the answer is here, Death Master.

Not only is Black Rock Shooter’s nemesis evil but she is also very cute. How can I tell that she is evil well I would say the green eyes and skull is kind of a give a way. That plus her weapon of choice the Dead Scythe looks to be a more then a match for the Rock Cannon. The skull and scythe are removable and she also comes with a chain that you can have her hold as you like. It is also nice that Goodsmile has giving Dead Master a base similar to the original BRS, the two side by side on a shelf is sure to look sweet.

She is slated to go on sale this November at a hefty 9,800 yen. The 1/8 and stands in a approx. 28cm tall with base. The bad girl is already up for pre-order at Hobby Search, Ami Ami, Kid Nemo, and J-List .

Pilot Pen Handwritting

pilothandwriting_small.jpg

So a Twitter link brought me to an interesting little flash app by Pilot Pens.

Pilothandwriting.com takes a image of your handwriting and converts it in a font you can use to write a letter so someone. What you do is print out the template and write in all the number and both upper and lower case letter plus a few symbols. Then either using your webcam, scanner, or camera you upload an image of the template and it auto generates a font. It then lets you write a letter and e-mail it someone as an image file. It also lets you set up an account and create as many handwriting fonts a you like.

Overall it works pretty good, but there are some problems. It only will let you create letters on the site and the are a bit on the small side. You can click on the image above to see the full letter I wrote. It ends up only being 650 pixels wide which is a bit small for modern monitors making it a bit hard to read. The other disappointing thing is that the font is only available through the app, no downloading and using it on your computer. Those to things combined make it a bit of a toy app but did get me interested in creating my own font.
